A lecture series at the Center for Contemporary Art where artists talk about a project they created abroad: an artwork that was significant in their creative development, but that the audience in Israel is almost unfamiliar with. This is an opportunity to get acquainted with thought and work processes on complex projects that were realized overseas, through the challenges, doubts, and breakthroughs in their making.

Maayan Elyakim will discuss his exhibition "Game of Goose," curated by Dan Handel, which was presented in Spring–Summer 2025 at the VDL Neutra House in Los Angeles. The evening will also mark the launch of his newly published exhibition catalogue.

The exhibition—the result of two years of conceptualization and development by the artist and the curator—was specifically conceived for the private residence and studio of architect Richard Neutra. Considered one of the founding figures of modern architecture in the U.S., Neutra's style is synonymous with West Coast Mid-Century Modernism. During the talk, Maayan will share the long and intricate process of bringing the project to fruition: from establishing contact with the space (which today serves as a research and exhibition space for Cal Poly Pomona); to meticulously studying the home’s unique architectural features; to conceiving, conceptualizing and executing his artistic vision. He will also speak about the logistical, financial, and political challenges involved in executing both the exhibition and the accompanying publication.

Maayan Elyakim is a multidisciplinary artist working across a broad spectrum of artistic media. Driven by a deep engagement with material processes and symbolic systems, his practice reflects a lifelong dedication to mastering techniques from diverse artistic and craft traditions, combined with in-depth research of realms such as art history, the sciences, and mythology.

Elyakim's work has been presented in museums, galleries, and public spaces. Notable venues include the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Galeria Labirynt in Lublin, Schocken Library in Jerusalem, and Dvir Gallery. He has participated in residencies and fellowship programs such as the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts (Maine, USA), Pilchuck Glass School (Washington, USA), Artport TLV, and Xenia Creative Retreat (Hampshire, UK).

The event will be held in Hebrew.
